Tree care & removal
Trimming, removal, topping and fertilizing from Scott Keen and his crew, for trees that lean at a house, hang over a roof or have simply run out of years. Free estimates, and the clean-up is part of the job.
Limbs over the roof, split leaders and trunks that lean at the house
Most calls start with something specific: limbs overhanging the house, a dead branch hung up high, a tree leaning toward a fence or a road. Overhanging limbs look like a small job from the ground, but the weight sits out past the cut, and that is what makes them tricky. Von Horst thought limbs over the house would be a little tricky, and wrote that the crew handled it and cleaned up afterwards.
Deadwood, a split where two main stems meet, and roots that have lifted or gone soft at the base are the other signs worth a phone call. In Locust Grove, around Lake Anna and out toward Spotsylvania, a lot of the trees are tall hardwoods standing close to houses, so a failure rarely has far to fall.
If a limb or a whole tree comes down in a storm, call Scott any time at (540) 718-3794. Premier Arbor Services answers 24 hours a day, and a missed call is returned within 24 hours.

The walk-through, the verdict, and cutting a tree down in sections
Scott starts by walking the property with you. Scott Bouldin, who had him look over the trees at Lake Anna, said he pointed out the ones that needed to be taken down right away, the ones that could wait a few years, and the ones that were completely healthy. You hear that call before you spend anything, and estimates are free.
Premier publishes four kinds of tree work: trimming, removal, topping and fertilizing. Trimming and pruning is done for the health of the tree and for its shape. Deborah Brown watched Scott supervise every limb and said he looked at the tree with an artist's eye, so it came out symmetrical. Where a tree stands close to a house, a fence or a road, it comes down in pieces, not in one fall. Alexis had two very large trees close to the house, the fence and a major roadway, and the crew removed them without doing damage to any.
The Morbark chipper stays on site, next to the grapple excavator that moves the heavy sections. Scott is on the job the entire time, with his own crew and equipment.
Chipped, hauled and raked: what is left when the truck pulls out
Limbs go through the chipper, the debris is hauled off, and the yard is left clean. Review after review mentions it. Deborah Brown called the clean-up thorough, and Scott Bouldin was impressed enough by it to say so alongside the tree work itself.
If you want the rounds for firewood, say so and they are left for you. A stump can be ground down on the same visit, and if there are several, Premier can clear and grade the area too. You can read how that works on the stump grinding page.
Regular maintenance does more than keep a yard looking good. Premier's own line is that it adds value to the property and helps the trees stay healthy, which is why fertilizing and light trimming are on the list next to removal. Call (540) 718-3794 or send the details, and Scott will come look.
